Back in early July I was shocked when I came back from vacation to find the Detroit Free Press had gone up to $2 a paper! Now this had happened a couple years ago, but the papers went back down to $1.50 each. I was happy, I was thrilled! I still don't have a ton of money so getting 4 papers worth of inserts for $6 each week is about what I can do. So last month, when the prices jumped up again, I held out hope that the price might drop again. Unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Instead, I found out today from the girls at our local 7-11 that next weekend the Macomb Daily will also be raising their price to $2! I had been switching to the Macomb Daily to get the same amount of inserts. But with the price hike it doesn't look like that's a cheaper option now!

So it looks like next Sunday I will be switching back to the Free Press, they have the same inserts - but the Freep always has more of the ads I want. It's the same price any how.

There is a rumor though that they may start selling inserts at the Post Office, or so say the lovely ladies at my 7-11! I have contacted the Free Press to see if they might start offering an insert subscription - I will keep you updated!
