Millions of Americans are heading to beaches and warm-weather getaways this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day, seeking to dive toes deep into the sand as they celebrate the unofficial start of summer! However, Memorial Day Weekend is not always so bright. This weekend tends to be peoples' initial contact with the sun since last season, hence the reason why so many get sunburned. To commence the highly anticipated Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 24, 2013, has been declared as "Don't Fry Day," by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention, as an effort to encourage sun safety awareness.

Summertime isn’t the only time to pay close attention to your skin health. As the winter months are drawing near, the cold weather poses several challenges to maintaining healthy skin. Not only are you battling rosy cheeks, chapped lips, and dry skin, but now the bronzed color of your skin is

Tired of all the usual Christmas movies you’ve seen a hundred times? Yeah, so was I until I decided to pull together some of the better ones that I wanted to see. Singing Dogs and Claymation didn’t make the cut, though some old standby’s did. The movie had to at least have a Christmas scene in it before it made the list.

So I asked a few other bloggers to share some of their favorite posts with us! Earlier this week Patricia from My Randomness shared a post on how to make a memory book from your Kid's cards!

Tonight we have a recipe shared from Suburban Coupon Mom! Don't they just look fantastic? I'm going to have to work on making a gluten free version of this :). Let us know if you make it!

Turn Birthday Cards in a Memory Book for your kids!

Patricia Frederick

My Randomness

Turn birthday cards into a "book" for your child or grandchild to read. Wish my parents would have done this!

I stumbled upon this picture on Pinterest. There was no article and just a basic description to go with it, but I got to thinking. I could do this!

Think about all the cards that your children get for their birthday. If you're anything like me, you hate to throw them so they just end up in the bottom of a drawer for years. With a simple one inch binder, you can transform them into something that they will be able to show their children.

All you will need for this is a binder (as mentioned above) and a three hole punch. Start with all the cards that you were given when they were born and work your way until the present. If you're unable to punch the holes in the card to make them fit, I would recommend getting a couple sheet protectors and putting them in there.

Get creative on the computer or with markers and paper to make a cute cover, and you have a memory book that will last for your grandchildren to see!

A Chick's Guide to Football

Patricia Frederick/ My Randomness

I know. I know. Most women could care less about football. I, on the other hand, am a HUGE fan! (Sounds like every guy's dream right? Try rooting for the team they hate the most!) Every Sunday during football season, you can find my happy butt parked in front of the TV screaming and cursing. I decided to write up a little guide so that you can act like you know what you're talking about.

The most important thing to know in football: Scores are called touchdowns (not home runs, goals, etc).

What is all this ‘downs’ business?

Each team has 4 tries to move 10 yards. If you’re watching on TV, usually they will have a line on the field where the ball currently is and where the 10 yard mark is. That bright line saying where the 10 yard mark is actually isn't on the field. It's just graphics! If you’re at a live game, look for the dudes in bright orange with big orange sticks.

What in the world is the red zone.. I see no red! It’s 20 yards before the goal. This is usually where most scoring takes place. Now is the time to sit on the edge of your seat and act like you're nervous (it doesn't matter which team you're pulling for). This is usually where you'll see the offense and defense at their best.

How many players of each team are on the field at a time? 11 each

I think if I played football, I would want to be on the special teams because, well, I'm special! As long as you can kick or hold a ball, or run like hell you would be perfect! Special teams consist of anyone who is involved in kicking the ball: kicker, punt/kick returner (person who runs the ball back after it is kicked), holder, etc.

I thought a touchdown was worth 7 points!

Actually, it's worth 6. Here's a breakdown:
touchdown = 6
after scoring a touchdown, there are two options. Either kick it through the goal posts (1pt) or running it into the end zone again (2pts) field goal = 3
if a team is close enough to the end zone, but just can’t score, most of the time they will kick a field goal if they’re on 4th down (their 4th attempt to go those 10 yards.. and they know they’re not going to make it) touch back = 2
tackling an opponent in their own end zone

Is it OK for me to just cheer for the team with the best looking uniforms or the teams with the best butts?
Absolutely.
